Add a custom, removable racing stripe to your car in your very own garage with this peelable spray paint. Here’s how to get this look in a few steps.
- PREPARE: Always work in a well-ventilated area, like an open garage, and lay out a drop cloth to protect the floor from overspray. Use painter’s tape and masking paper to mask off the areas around the center portion of your hood. Make sure that the surrounding areas of your car are protected from overspray as well.
- PAINT: Shake your can of peel coat for one minute after the mixing ball starts to rattle. Next, hold the can 8-12” away from the hood and spray your first light coat in a consistent sweeping motion. After your first coat, you should be able to see about 50% of the original paint color. Apply four or more additional coats, waiting about 10 minutes in between each. The more coats you apply, the easier it will be to peel later.
- FINISH: Remove the painter’s tape immediately after finishing your last coat for clean lines. Then, let the paint dry for at least two hours before taking it out for a spin and 24 hours before washing.
- REMOVE: When you’re ready to remove the paint, slowly rub one edge of the stripe until it starts to peel up. The coating will peel off in large pieces. We recommend peeling your stripe within six months of applying.
