How to Undercoat Your Wheel Wells

From a fresh new look, to enhanced rust protection and reduced road noise, there are tons of  reasons to undercoat your wheel wells. Here’s how you can easily add a layer of undercoating to your wheel wells in three steps.

  1. PREPARE: Make sure you’re working in a well-ventilated area, like an open garage, and use a drop cloth to protect from overspray. Remove the wheel from your car and use painter’s tape and masking paper to mask off the surrounding frame and rotor to protect them from overspray.
  2.  CLEAN: Clean the wheel wells with Wax & Tar Remover to remove any dirt. Then, lightly scuff the surface with sandpaper.
  3. PAINT: Shake your can of Professional Undercoating for one minute after the mixing ball starts to rattle. Then, hold the can 12-16” away from the wheel well and spray two coats a few minutes apart. Make sure to use a continuous sweeping motion while spraying. Repeat this step on the remaining wheel wells.
  4. FINISH: Let the undercoating cure completely for 72 hours before taking your car out on the road.
