How to Renew Your Outdoor Grill

Instead of getting rid of your old grill, make it look new again with Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat spray paint. This easy DIY shows you how. Just clean, spray paint and dry. You’ll be cooking up your famous BBQ again this weekend.

• Make sure your grill is completely cool before you start.
• Smooth out any rusty spots, if applicable, and scuff the glossy surface with a light sanding. Wipe away any sanding residue.
• Wash your grill with soap and water and let it dry thoroughly.
• Using painter’s tape, mask off any areas you don’t want to paint.
• Place your grill over a drop cloth and shake the spray can vigorously. Shake often while you paint.
• Hold the can upright 10-16” from surface and spray in a steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke.
• Apply two or more light coats a few minutes apart to avoid drips and runs.
• Spray paint will be dry to the touch in 30 minutes and to handle in 1-2 hours. Allow paint to dry for 1 hour before heating. You may recoat within 1 hour or after 48 hours.
